Solbrinken Ordinary House

To have a home and studio on a little plot of land is somewhat of a dream of mine. So I of course became enamored with this Swedish home and studio for an artist and designer and their 3 children, designed by Stockholm based architecture firm In Praise of Shadows. I love how they mixed a modern aesthetic with family friendly details.

Vacation Lusting: Dedon Island, Philippines

Recently, my Husband and I have been trying to plan our belated honeymoon. We've decided to go to the Philippines but now we just have to decide which of the over 7,000 islands we'll visit! It's so hard to pick because every place I find looks more beautiful then the last. But this resort, Dedon Island, is really calling my name. Designed by Jean-Marie Massaud and his architectural partner Daniel Pouzet with the vision of a sustainable lifestyle and love of the outdoors, It just looks like paradise doesn't it? I'd also love to hear any recommendations from readers if you've been to the Philippines.

Inspired Office Space

Just a quick little post this afternoon since I'm hard at work with the finishing touches on the next Rue issue which comes out tomorrow!! I can't wait for you all to see it. But speaking of hard at work I thought I would share this super inspiring office space via Design Sponge that I instantly fell in love with recently. Enjoy!

Elizabeth Roberts Design

I recently came across the work of New York based architect Elizabeth Roberts on one of my favorite blogs Desire to Inspire and I was instantly enamored. Her portfolio is just one dream home after another. I especially love how she uses the traditional elements of an older structure and mixes in just the right amount of modern detailing.

Rue Magazine: Soledad Alzaga Designed Home

As many of you might have seen last week, the September issue of Rue Magazine dropped. And while I'm very proud of the entire issue, I wanted to share one of my favorite home tours with a few outtakes that didn't make it into the final story. This beautiful San Francisco home was decorated by Soledad Alzaga. What I especially love about what she has done with the space are the unconventional and bold artwork and accessory choices, not to mention the stunning victorian architecture through-out. Also don't forget to check out the entire issue here.

Tribe Studio Architects

A small sampling of the amazing residential work done by Sydney based architecture firm Tribe Studios. I love how simple and streamlined their spaces are.

Home of Kathryn Tyler

I love the work of architect Kathryn Tyler, so it should be no surprise that I'm currently obsessed with her  personal home that she designed. It is clean and modern and functional, 3 things I always love in good home design.

Feldman Architects

If I could wave a magic wand to procure my dream home, it would probably be by the amazing Feldman Architects. This San Francisco based firm is just my style. Breezy, simple, modern and with an incredible attention to space and livability. Now I just have to find a little bungalow to remodel, please don't remind me how much it's going to cost, I don't want to know :)

Aldridge & Tanno Architects

Connecticut based Architecture firm Aldridge & Tanno really specializes in that minimal beauty that I always crave but never seem to be able to accomplish in my own home (why do I have so many knick knacks?) But in my dream world I would be extremely organized and live in one of their stunning homes.

Color Combo: Browns & Blues

Today in the Bay Area it feels like summer with temperatures in the low 70's but to capture a little of that wintery feeling I've decided to do a post on blues and browns which always feel kind've cool and desolate to me, just like winter. I also just love this combination, it's so earthy and calming, like dirt and sky, very elemental.

Eclectic Portland Abode

I love the mixture of styles in this home, it's clean and modern but also keeps intact many of the original details and elements of the original Victorian structure. Then they top it all of with just a dash of whimsy, perfection! via Dwell
