One of my favorite Rue features we do every issue is the editor's picks pages. Mostly because I get to pick all my favorite things based on whatever the theme is that month. For our latest issue our editors' picks were inspired by each of our favorite designers. I chose one of my all time favorites, Emily Henderson. I seriously don't think there is a room or space she has created that I haven't been completely smitten with, so it was a no brainer. You can see the whole feature, and the other editors designer picks at ruemag.com, but I thought I would share a few of my picks here as well. Enjoy!
Rue Magazine 4th Anniversary Issue
These week we had our 4 year anniversary issue at Rue Magazine. I could not be more proud of the team and especially our fearless leader Crystal Palecek for not only creating Rue but for keeping it fresh and inspiring for the last 4 years. I can't wait to see what the next 4 years bring! I wanted to share just a few of my favorites from this issue but I highly recommend heading over to ruemag.com to see the entire issue.
Solbrinken Ordinary House
To have a home and studio on a little plot of land is somewhat of a dream of mine. So I of course became enamored with this Swedish home and studio for an artist and designer and their 3 children, designed by Stockholm based architecture firm In Praise of Shadows. I love how they mixed a modern aesthetic with family friendly details.
Swedish Dream Home
This small Swedish apartment proves that size doesn't matter. I love how they've made it look spacious and cozy at the same time. And all the mid-century details make me swoon.
Dream Home: Stockholm Schoolhouse
Looking back at Rue archives recently I was reminded of one of my all time favorite home tours. This Swedish home of Artist Ylva Skarp and her family is simple, perfection! The soft grey walls with wood and white accents is so pretty and fresh. And who doesn't want a swing in their home?! When can I move in? :)
Bedroom Inspiration: Soft Neutrals
I hope everyone is recuperating from the Holiday shenanigans, I know I ate way too much, and with all the leftovers I'm predicting a repeat of yesterday :) With all this eating and lounging, it's inevitably going to lead to napping and what better place to nap then one of these gorgeous bedroom inspirations. I love bedrooms in soft neutrals because they are so calming and tranquil. Perfect for a holiday nap.

Elizabeth Roberts Design
I recently came across the work of New York based architect Elizabeth Roberts on one of my favorite blogs Desire to Inspire and I was instantly enamored. Her portfolio is just one dream home after another. I especially love how she uses the traditional elements of an older structure and mixes in just the right amount of modern detailing.
Interior Inspiration: Dark Walls
I'm usually drawn to really light and airy spaces, just take a look at my home inspiration on pinterest and you will quickly notice a high percentage have clean and crisp white or off-white walls. So I was a little surprised when I found myself gravitating towards rooms that are dark and moody lately, see a few of my faves below. What do you guys prefer light or dark wall colors? And would you have the guts to paint a whole room in a deep shade?

Rue Launch
I'm so excited for the Launch of Rue's August issue today! It was a lot of hard work but I think it turned out really well and I can't wait for you all to see it and read it. Below are just a few of my favorite images from this issue, but I could have posted a gazillion more. So go check it out :)
Outdoor Spaces
I haven’t lived in California a year yet, but the weather has already lived up to the hype. As a former Midwest girl who braved bone-chilling winters and swelteringly humid summers, the weather here has been a breath of fresh air. As a consequence, I now spend more time outside enjoying the beautiful sunshine. The following are examples of perfect outdoor spaces I find wholly inspirational. Enjoy!
Kyle Dewoody's Apartment
I love the Greenwich Village apartment of Kyle Dewoody, which was recently featured in Vogue. It is so lovely and eccentric. The little details like the copper pendant lamp over the dining table or the great collection of art on the walls. All together it creates such a beautiful and livable space. See more at Vogue.
Home of Kathryn Tyler
I love the work of architect Kathryn Tyler, so it should be no surprise that I'm currently obsessed with her personal home that she designed. It is clean and modern and functional, 3 things I always love in good home design.
