Today I'm super excited to introduce you to the pinning stylings of the incomparable Vanessa Corrêa. I always love the time I get to spend with Vanessa, who also calls Oakland home, because she is effortlessly chic, witty and smart. Qualities which translate perfectly to her pinterest boards. Below she answers a few of my questions about pinterest and what she loves most right now.
How did you get started on pinterest?
One of the designers I work with invited me to join, and soon the rest of our creative team was on Pinterest. We initially used it to share visual ideas with each other, but it’s grown so much since then.

What are 3 of your favorite pins of all time?
Brancusi’s studio, This 8mm film camera, Anything with Nick and Nora Charles from Dashiell Hammet’s the Thin Man.
I love pinning Modernist heroes and their work; Duchamp, Giacometti, Picasso, the Eames, Anni Albers and the rest. Overall, though, I love creating a narrative on a board around a point of view.
What are a few of your favorite sites to find source materiel?
I’m a big fan of several of the Scandanavian bloggers: Emma Fexeus and Lotta Agaton. Another Magazine’s “Another Loves” series never ceases to surprise and delight. And there are spate of online magazines and small boutiques that I check in with regularly to see what’s new.
I also tend to look in the real world for source material. Traditional print magazines also inspire. I’m a big fan of “The Gentlewoman” and “Living Etc.”.
I also pin whatever I’m thinking about at that moment, whether it’s something for Lucie’s birthday or a new product design.
What do you do when not pinning?

Think about pinning? (kidding.)
When I’m not thinking about design and curating objects, I’m spending time daughter Lucie, my crazy Australian Shepherd, a slightly perturbed cat and my husband (he doesn’t usually get last billing.) I’m also working on a fine jewelry line. And, finally, I really, really love a glass of very good wine in the hammock with family and friends nearby.
What was the last book your read, was it any good?

I’ve been reading a lot of PG Wodehouse, and seriously, that stuff is HILARIOUS. I’m also in the middle of MFK Fisher’s “Map of Another Town” — her memoirs about Provence. I find her unsparing, intelligent writing reassuring.

I am currently wishing I had made it to El Bulli before it closed…just watched the documentary about it on Netflix and it looked like a brilliant experience.

What is your dream vacation or destination?
Hard to say. Right now, at the top of my list are Buenos Aires, Rome, Barcelona, Capetown and anywhere in Antarctica. I’ve recently, too, found myself vaguely interested in Tokyo. Paris, of course, is my sentimental favorite!
