NYT Magazine Classic Screen Types

Many of you may have already seen this around the web but if you haven't had a chance to watch the New York Times Hollywood Issue short films, highlighting classic screen types, I highly recommend it. I especially love James Franco's interpretation, but that might be partly because I have an unhealthy obsession this him (really how can I not). Below are just a couple of my favorite stills, watch full videos here.

My Favorite Food Blogs

For me cooking is one of my all time favorite past-times, I find it to be a creative outlet a stress reducer and theres always a yummy outcome (well almost always). One of the best places for me to find recipe inspiration are the many great food blogs out there. So with the holidays creeping up I thought I would do a post on my top 5 food blogs in no particular order.

Sprouted Kitchen

Whipped

Smitten Kitchen

Kiss My Spatula

Cannelle-Vanille

Note: there are plenty more where these came from so if anyone would like more food blog suggestions feel free to ask in the comments below (I follow close to 50, which I read regularly)

Holiday Gift Guide - Boys Edition

Last week I got a request to include more gift items for the men in our lives (specifically the "tech-y, deliciously 'nerdy' boyfriend") So I decided to dedicate this weeks entire gift guide to them, I struggle with gifts for my boy as well, I always want that perfect gift that mixes the utilitarian with the unique and I hope this list encompasses that. Hannah I hope this helps! (Links below image) Also if you need more inspiration there are great gift guides for men here, here, here and here.

Jo Bradford Photography

With the the arrival of winter this past weekend here in Madison (we got our first snowfall) I can especially relate to these images from UK based photographer Jo Bradford. The lonely, stark yet beautiful way she captured winter evokes my feelings so well I just had to share

Chronicle Books Friends & Family Code

I have a bonus post today to tell you all about the great Friends & Family code going on at Chronicle books, when they emailed me about it I got so excited because you all know how much I adore Chronicle. I'ts 35% off when you enter code FRIENDS at checkout. I just ordered a bunch of books to give away as presents (maybe I bought something for myself as well) I highly recommend it. Also don't forget about the Happy Haul-idays giveaway it ends Friday!

Hollie Chastain

I'm quite smitten with the mixed media style of Tennessee based artist Hollie Chastain, she merges the contemporary illustration style with the vintage photos so seamlessly. You can buy prints of her work on her Etsy shop as well.

late thoughts

I usually try to do two posts a day but today I had quite the hectic day at my real job and have been working on a project late into the night so my apologies to those who might have worried I had forgotten, to make up for it I leave you with this lovely photo from nerd boyfriend to tide you over until tomorrow, goodnight!

Reader Request - Bedding

Over the weekend my mom requested I do a post about bedding that would be good in her bedroom, so this post might not relate to all but if every any of my readers have a personal request feel free to send it along because I love any post suggestions. My mothers bedroom is painted a deep blue green, so she asked for some ideas in the blue/green family, which I provided but I also am including some other options that are more in the neutral territory like greys, browns and whites, because I think if you have a bold color on the wall it's best to stay neutral, but you can still have fun with the print. So mom I hope this helps.

Friday Etsy Round-up

Happy weekend everyone, I hope it's joyful and warm! And now I leave you with my Friday Etsy round-up, where I compile a list of the best handmade and vintage items I've found while scouring the corners of Etsy, so you don't have to (links below image). Also don't forget I'm selling my own Etsy holiday cards.

Weekend Project - Holiday Decorating

Although I already decorated my tree last weekend, and spent an exorbitant amount of time making a handmade popcorn and cranberry wreath, I seem to be possessed with holiday spirit and there are a couple more projects I really want to get done. So this weekend my poor boyfriend is again stuck doing sweatshop labor for my dream of the perfect holiday apartment. Below are a couple of d.i.y. projects I found around the web that I hope to tackle. What about you guys have you done any fun holiday projects or seen any cool ones you hope to do? please share I'd love to get more ideas and see what others are doing.
