Smitten List

The Smitten List time! a weekly roundup of my latest objects of desire, based on a theme, gift guide, or just whatever is currently catching my eye. (links below images).

Nick Frank: Mira

I initially became aware of Nick Frank's bright and geometric Mira series via the always inspiring pinterest page of Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay. I was instantly enamored by how he documents the colorful urban architecture of Munich. Now I really want to visit, don't you?

Interior Inspiration: Dark Walls

I'm usually drawn to really light and airy spaces, just take a look at my home inspiration on pinterest and you will quickly notice a high percentage have clean and crisp white or off-white walls. So I was a little surprised when I found myself gravitating towards rooms that are dark and moody lately, see a few of my faves below. What do you guys prefer light or dark wall colors? And would you have the guts to paint a whole room in a deep shade?

Pinning This Week: Tangerine

Pinterest is my favorite place to notice and compile themes or trends that are catching my eye. So I thought I would share my favorites here. This week it's all about tangerine, one of my all time favorite colors because it's so bright and commanding. It can really be a statement, as evidenced by the tangerine coat and kitchen below. Or it can just be delicious, either way I suggest you add some tangerine into your life pronto.

Color Combo: Browns & Blues

Today in the Bay Area it feels like summer with temperatures in the low 70's but to capture a little of that wintery feeling I've decided to do a post on blues and browns which always feel kind've cool and desolate to me, just like winter. I also just love this combination, it's so earthy and calming, like dirt and sky, very elemental.

Ceramics

I love these overhead images of organic ceramic vessels shot by Dietlind Wolf, such a stunning eye for color and shape. They kind of remind me of how my mom and I shop when we are in a beautiful interiors or home goods shop, we always pick things based on how they look with other items, placing them next to each other and creating our own little diorama of the perfect combination of items, even though we know once we get home they rarely will be used in that perfect visual representation. I suppose that is the talent of a really good stylist, creating a story with items that would not capture your attention quite the same way if standing alone.

Style Inspiration: Green for Autumn

I've been seeing a lot of green lately on fashion blogs and pinterest and can't wait to incorporate it into my fall wardrobe, especially the darker forest hues and bright grass greens. Below are a few of my favorite visual inspirations.

Color Combo: Pink & Tangerine

Nothing is more summery or happier then the color combo of pink and orange, it's so intensely bright I just can't help but smile. Although it can be overwhelming to attempt this look, I strongly recommend it.

Color Combo: Spring Green + Golden Yellow

Gold and Green is a color combo I think people often shy away from because they both exude such vibrancy, it often seems that together it would be overwhelming. While I think this is true, sometimes it's nice to make a statement by really cranking up the color quotient in your life, so I thought I would compile some inspiration that really pulls the green and yellow pairing off with aplomb. Color Combo: Coral + Taupe

Coral and taupe are such a nice summery combo, add some crashing waves and a vodka greyhound and it's basically perfection. Images via pinterest

Green Interiors

Green is such a versatile color partly because it comes in so many shades it's hard to not like a least one of them. Did you know that it is also restful for the eye to view? which makes green environments very calming spaces. The most obvious place to surround yourself with green is the outdoors which is why I think a lot of people don't think to utilize it in the home as well, but just think, you could be that much calmer if you just added a little green into your life like the beautiful spaces below do.
