Jill De Haan Lettering

One of my favorite elements of the Rue Holiday issue was getting to work with the talented Jill De Haan on the hand-lettered gift guide titles. I love using calligraphy and hand-lettering, it makes everything look so special and more personal, which Jill accomplishes effortlessly. Below are a few of my favorites of hers, but I highly recommend checking out all of her work on her website.

Tim Smart

I can't get enough of these illustrations by Tim Smart, they tell such a vivid story don't they?

Mari Kanstad Johnson

The intricate and slightly disturbing work of Oslo based artist and illustrator Mari Kanstad Johnson.

Dan-ah Kim

The beautiful illustrative work of Korean born, Brooklyn based artist Dan-ah Kim. I like that they have a fairytale quality to them, that imaginative, fantastical sense that sometimes only children can possess.

Casey Roberts

I recently became acquainted with the work of Indiana based artist Casey Roberts and immediately was entranced by his predominately nature based pieces. His use of the cyanotype process and occasionally complementing it with gouache and collage, allows him to create beautifully simple yet intriguing works.

Linda Kim

I absolutely adore the painting style of L.A. based artist Linda Kim. It's so lively and emotive, with a lovely illustrative story to each piece. Make sure to also check out her illustration and design work, this girl is seriously multi-talented!

Sam Richwood

When I first saw the recent box series by UK artist Sam Richwood I was in love with the color palette and energetic painting style. But what probably caught my attention even more was how beautifully he portrayed the wonder and creativity of children, when playing with such a simple object, like the cardboard box. I often wish I could recapture some of those simple joys as an adult in the same way I did as a child.

Sean Freeman

I'm a huge fan of the typography work of London artist Sean Freeman, so organic.

Ana Montiel

I'm so blown away by the work of London based artist Ana Montiel. Her style varies so naturally between soft and romantic to futuristic and bold. Clearly she has an intensely creative mind.

Penguin Classics

Beautiful hand embroidered covers for 3 Penguin Classics titles by the incomparable illustator Jillian Tamaki. I would so love to own all of them but especially Emma, since Jane Austen has always been a favorite of mine.

Carolin Loebbert

I'm absolutely in love with the graphic, science & nature inspired illustrations of German artist Carolin Loebbert. Beautiful beyond words really. I want to buy each one at Mammoth.

Natalie Nicklin

Natalie Nicklin is a multi-discipline artist and designer you clearly delights in the bizarre. I love how her work reminds me of 70's sci-fi mixed with 50's advertising with a dollop of futuristic film on top.
