Chicago Trip Round-Up

As I mentioned in my last blog post this past weekend my boyfriend and I took a little jaunt to Chicago. It was nice to get away even if the hotel bed was terribly uncomfortable (I might be inordinately attached to my own bed). So I thought I would share some of my favorite bits from our trip.

When we first arrived we were starving so after some difficulty we decided to try the Purple Pig, which was named 1 of the top 10 restaurants in America by Bon Appetit! It definitely did not disappoint. Travis ordered a roasted beet and goat cheese salad that was heavenly.

Although we decided not the visit the Art Institute of Chicago this trip I did want to check out the new Modern wing since it wasn't finished last time I visited the Museum. So we just ducked into the lobby and New contemporary gift shop so we could get a feel without paying admissions. It was quite stunning I can't wait for the next trip when I can explore it more thoroughly.

Another hot spot I wanted to try out was the Sable Kitchen and Bar I had read online that they really knew there way around a cocktail and with a extensive bar menu they didn't disappoint, plus I was especially smitten by the interior particularly the lamps.

Before we headed home we caught an early dinner at The Gage, although it was a little pricey it was worth it, I had a heirloom tomato, goat cheese and escargot tart that was inventive and Travis had a to-die-for chicken dish.

Well that is all I hope you enjoyed the little round-up
