Spring Equinox

In honor of the first official day of spring, here are a few beautiful examples of spring flora and what is to come. Image sources: 1. via frolic blog 2. via pinterest

My Nuptials: Paper Flowers

For anyone who has every planned a wedding or really any event for that matter, you know the flowers are pretty much key. They also tend to be hugely expensive. So I recently was doing some research on paper flowers, which if done right can add such a lovely and unique touch to a wedding. The 1st image in particular I think could be gorgeous as place cards. images 1. via Oh Happy Day 2. via Intimate Weddings 3. via Better Homes & Gardens 4. via Pinterest

Color Combo: Pink & Tangerine

Nothing is more summery or happier then the color combo of pink and orange, it's so intensely bright I just can't help but smile. Although it can be overwhelming to attempt this look, I strongly recommend it.

My Nuptials: Flowers

The problem I'm having with the flowers is every time I think I've found exactly what I want, I couldn't possible imagine anything better, I come across a new image or inspiration that blows that whole theory out of the water. Not to mention trying to source my flowers locally and sustainably, it's kind've turning into one of the most difficult tasks. Below are some of my current favorite looks, as you can probably tell they are kind've all over the place, color and theme wise, the only thing I know for sure is that I want them to have a very organic free form feel. But really who's knows because next week I'll probably want something completely different.

Color Combo: Spring Green + Golden Yellow

Gold and Green is a color combo I think people often shy away from because they both exude such vibrancy, it often seems that together it would be overwhelming. While I think this is true, sometimes it's nice to make a statement by really cranking up the color quotient in your life, so I thought I would compile some inspiration that really pulls the green and yellow pairing off with aplomb. Clementine

I absolutely adore the floral design work of Oakland California based studio, Clementine. They effortlessly accomplish the organic yet cohesive look I just love. I'm definitely going to be drawing inspiration from their work when planning my wedding florals.

My Nuptials: Concepting

So now that the ring is on my finger and the engagement has been announced, what do I do next? Honestly the reality of planning a wedding is kind've like a black hole of inspiration and spending way too much and sparkle overload. So as a designer I have to break down the look of this wedding, what are the colors and the concept? Because honestly without that this could easily spiral into an explosion of tulle and pink (who knew right?) So this week I've put together the beginning of my concept/inspiration board. In words I would describe it as urban hipster meets casual outdoorsmen with a splash of quirky nerd, but I think I describe it better with the visual below.  See more of my inspirations here

Sunshine

Feeling all things bright and yellow today, even though it's grey and rainy out.

Poppy

I'm so exhausted and busy today, so I'm going to keep my posts short and sweet. This one is all about this lovely poppy image, nothing more, nothing less. via Martha Stewart

Where is Spring?

Um... so apparently Wisconsin does not know the meaning of spring, because it is currently sleeting outside my window accompanied by chilling winds and thunder. So I'm trying to stay positive by picturing the image below, in my head instead. Ahhhh... that's much better.  via pinterest

Spring Flora

Since today is the first day of Spring I thought I would share some lovely, bright flower arrangements to remind you of things to come. I don't think there is anything that can cheer me up quite as much as a beautiful bouquet of flowers, maybe that's why winter makes me so depressed.

Table-Top Floral Arrangements

With the holidays fast approaching I thought it would be nice to share some beautiful floral arrangements to brighten up any table. For someone like me who doesn't have the time or the money to have fresh cut flowers year round the winter holidays offer a special occasion to splurge on decorating, also it has the added bonus of giving you a little reminder of spring and growth and that one day the outdoors will live again. Most of these images come from the always amazing designsponge blog.
